Rules

Rules are evolving. They are not up for player interpretation. If you have a concern, air on the safe side.

If you have to try and reason around your actions, or bend the spirit of the rule, you’re probably breaking it, and already violating rule 1.

Minimum age to be here is 18.

General Rules

  1. Don’t be a dick. Everyone has a general interpretation of this rule, but if more people are displeased with you than pleased with you, you’re generally a problem. Don’t be.
  2. Don’t troll, be toxic, or childish. Rust has a rep for that behavior, but it’s not welcome here.
  3. Have fun, don’t ruin the experience for others. You’re going to raid and be raided, but don’t just constantly target the same person/group unless you both agree to it.
  4. Off-lining is not allowed with the following exceptions:
  • You may not raid a base when the team is offline for longer than 10 minutes (it’ll tell you) UNLESS the base is decayed
    • Bases in decay may be looted as the opportunity allows. You will still not be able to attack it with any boom or otherwise.
    • If you can reach TC without any additional actions taken to do so, you may authorize with it, THEN do whatever you want to the base.
  1. Killing sleepers is fine… don’t sleep in the open.
  2. Do not use alt-accounts. When you are caught, all of them will be banned.
  3. Do not change your name. The name you first join the server with is what you are stuck with. If you are found to have changed your name, you will be banned.

Chat Etiquette

  1. Don’t hog, troll, or ramble in the chat. If people are generally combative towards you in the chat, or are interpreting your words as hostile, then you are probably the problem, regardless of your intention. Remember, communication is only effective if it’s tailored to how the receiving party understands it, not how you mean for it to be understood.
  2. If you want to chat, do so, but don’t just talk about yourself.
  3. Avoid trash talk about raiding, killing, etc. Everyone finds it annoying, and would much rather just hear the explosions and gunfire in the distance of you fighting for the spoils of war, instead of running your mouth.

Noob Zone (NZ)

  1. No PVP, period. Everyone gains green zone protection 30 seconds after they enter the zone.
  2. Bases cannot be raided period in the green zone (except when decayed, as mentioned above).
    a. One caveat, you may NOT roam the rest of the map and bring your goop back to the safe zone (safe guarding) so you can’t lose it. If you are caught doing this, you will lose the entire base, and everything in it. If you want to run monuments and other aspects of rust, leave the noob zone and embrace the dangerous world of Rust. The ONLY exception is bringing back wood or stone.
  3. Noob Zone is for noobs only. Guides & Mentors may be there to help teach the noobs. If you aren’t a noob (by knowledge, or restriction) and want to interact, meet them outside of NZ, or in the Shanty Town.
  4. Noob Zone has build limits. You may ONLY build at max, a 3 x 3 x 3. That includes roof, so if you want to try roof stuff, it has to fit within that area
  5. Using your base as a area to stockpile and safeguard your goods has become an issue. Code will be added to prevent this. Anyone found to be doing this will have their entire base in NZ destroyed, without question. Further, T2, and T3 anything other than electrical and pipes are not allowed. No defenses of any kind. You may not loot and bring back anything other than wood, stone, and metal from outside the NZ, to inside the NZ. Please do not be the reason more rules are added to this, the NZ is for noobs to LEARN.
  6. You may not use NZ to make farming bases. Each structure/player will be limited a single plot to farm on to learn the basics, but farms cannot be set up there for profit.
  7. Vehicles may not be stored.

Experienced Players (Vets)

  1. Experienced players are expected to be helpful to noobies while in the noobzone.

Teachers (Guides & Mentors)

You will be held to a higher standard of expectations, as you are in a position of influence. Other players will hold you accountable and call out foul behavior just because of your position.

  1. You are expected to be friendly (socially and in your Rust interactions) to all players, especially noobies.
  2. You are expected to be helpful. If someone asks you a question that you can answer, do so if you are not already pre-occupied.
  3. You are expected to start or find a group of noobies to help them learn.
  4. You are expected to avoid drama with other players, choosing to ignore it instead. If someone picks a fight with you that isn’t a noob, fight back with bullets and boom, not words.

You are not in a staff position, but others will unfairly hold you more responsible for your volunteer position. If at any time you no longer with to be a teacher, simply use /r guide quit in the chat, and you’ll lose the role and additional standards.

Signs

  1. All signs, hand-drawn or otherwise, may not include any form of racism, threats, directed hate, abuse, or any law-breaking content in the USA.
  2. NSFW content will be moderated at the R level but MUST be kept inside your base only, away from any public eyes. It may not be visible through windows, or if doors open. If your base is raided, it is YOUR responsibility to remove the signage ASAP, or a staff member will do it if found. If any NSFW material is found due to a raided base and it is not removed after 24 hours from public view, you will lose access to all signage forever, and possibly more punishment, up to, and including, perma-bans. We are adults, act like it.

PVERP Zone

  1. Blue zones in the map are PVERP zones. Let your creative juices flow.
  2. PVP is not allowed in these zones.
  3. Farming of any sort (plants, horses, etc) is not allowed in this zone. If you want to farm items to sell, you may do so as much as you want around map, and have a single vending machine inside the PVERP zone. If any players are found to have more than one vending machine in the zone, they will lose all of them, and potentially the structure they are in as well. Teams may have a max of three vending machines inside the zone.
  4. Weapons beyond pistols may not be sold in PVERP area. Shotguns, nades, AR, anything else is not allowed. Primative weapons are fine.
  5. All buildings are limited to a single vending machine. Exceptions must be requested.
  6. Vehicles may not be stored.

This rule list is evolving. Most rules are enforced with code. Please don’t be the reason a new rule is made up. Enforcement is solely up to staff, and not up for debate or your intepretation. If you have to try to talk your way into allowing something against the rules, you’re probably wrong. Be an adult, or be treated like a child.
